The Village Kidz WIC Clinic works with our community partners to help low-income mothers deliver healthy babies and raise healthy children. Our WIC program promotes healthy lifestyles, breastfeeding, and makes referrals to health care and other community services. We are open 6 days a week with extended hours, offering families the convenience of appointments when they need them - because life happens outside of 9-5.

What is WIC?

WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children (under 5 years old). WIC provides nutritious foods, nutrition information, breastfeeding promotion, breastfeeding support, and referrals to other health and social services. The foods provided may include infant formula, infant fruits/vegetables, infant cereal, adult cereals low in sugar and high in iron, milk, cheese, juice, eggs, peanut butter or dried beans/peas, whole grains, canned fish, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Who is Eligible for WIC?

Groups eligible for WIC include; Women who are pregnant, Women who are breastfeeding, Women who have just given birth, Infants, and Children up to age five who meet the eligibility requirements

WIC welcomes everyone who qualifies. Find out if that's you:

  • You might be eligible for WIC if you are pregnant or a mom of a child or children under five.

  • You must live in Louisiana.

  • You have to meet income guidelines. You can see if you qualify here.

You already meet the income guidelines if you are enrolled in Medicaid or receive SNAP or TANF benefits.

To be eligible, applicants must have a total household income at or below a level set by the USDA.

Income eligibility is determined by gross income, and some exclusions may apply.

Applicants with proof of Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF automatically meet income requirements.

One pregnant woman may count as two household members for income eligibility.
